If you are an interested student - ages 14 - 21 years - Please read the brochure and call (503) 460-9324

ICTC has established a high school retention program called Sistah Care for young African American women to encourage them to choose health professions such as midwifery, nursing, or medicine. The second class of young women who participated from Benson, Grant, Jefferson, and Marshall High Schools in Portland, OR graduated in June, 2004.

In March, 2004, ICTC organized a day of hands-on learning at the University of Portland's School of Nursing Lab with Sistah Care participants and University of Portland faculty. The students spent the day learning about prenatal care with nursing students and examining pregnant women from the community. With the nursing shortage in Portland, Sistah Care is a vital link to closing the gap and helping to increase diversity at the same time.
