Portland, Oregon - October 15-17, 2004

The 3rd annual Black Midwives and Healers Conference took place October 15-17, 2004 in Portland, Oregon. Our theme: Ancient Traditions, Sustainable Future.

We were honored with the attendance at the 2004 Conference of Margaret Charles Smith, who at 99 years old was the oldest living midwife in the United States. She traveled from Eutaw, Alabama to join us and accepted the 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award for her outstanding dedication to midwifery and serving her community.

 

 

Keynote Speaker Conference '03

Our 2004 keynote speaker was actress Yvette Freeman of the ER TV series. She spoke on healing and diabetes prevention October 16, 2004, from 7:30pm - 9:30pm at PSU Smith Memorial Ballroom
